Purpose – advises how Shakespeare’s plays can be used in management development. Design/methodology/approach – explains the relevance of Shakepeare’s plays to leadership and management, and discusses how they are currently used in training. Takes the examples of two plays – Macbeth and King Lear – and indicates the aspects of leadership that they address. Findings – underlines the relevance of Shakespeare’s play to the present day and argues that the dramatic analysis offered by Shakespeare can offer effective and memorable training to organizational leaders.
