Purpose - Examines the Forming, Storming, Norming and Performing team development model for coaching projects. Design/methodology/approach - describes how the model was developed and discusses each of the stages: formation of the team; the storming process where inter-personal relationships are formed; norming whereby the team has been established; and the team performing in reality. Adds a fifth stage of adjourning when a team whose project is completed is given a sense of closure. Provides tips for each stage. Findings - argues that this model, although developed in 1965, is a classic that is still relevant today. Originality/value - provides a concise description of the team development model.ISSN: 14656523Reference: 37AF937
