Purpose – Describes the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Mentor Moms programme, whose aim is to retain talented women who wish to combine family and career. Design/methodology/approach – Outlines the Mentor Moms programme, which is part of the WorkLife portfolio, and its objectives. Findings – The programme lasts for 20 months and brings together new or expecting mothers with other PwC mothers who have already experienced juggling career with motherhood; the mentors are normally women employees of at least director level. The programme’s stages are: getting ready, away on leave, returning to work, and the ongoing relationship. The programme’s benefits include coaching, networking, and fully paid training and development opportunities to keep the mothers’ skills up-to-date. Originality/value – Women are half of PwC’s new staff and over 40 per cent of managers, and the Mentor Moms project is a successful example of grassroots initiatives.Article type: Case study ISSN: 1932-2054 Reference: 38AH423
