Seldom do you come across a book associated with disaster that is both moving, widely researched and factual. This book is all of these and more. The harrowing tales of the school children on board the Jupiter on that evening of 21 October 1988 when their cruise ship collided with the Italian ship the Adige.

The tales of bravery of the children are awesome, their courage in rescuing friends and strangers alike are breathtaking.

The book is not just a recital of these heroic acts but also follows some of the children on their return home to see how they coped after their experience.

With evidence, not just from the adults and children, but from government representatives, both Greek and UK, and from the Harbour Master of Piraeus, the text is forthright in its presentation.

This is a very good book which is written in a sensitive, but yet academic, manner, and will provide researchers with a wealth of information with regard to how people react in a crisis situation.
