Critical event notification

A recent continuity forum survey revealed that 83 per cent of CEOs in the UK and USA are re-appraising business continuity plans in the light of the recent climate.

Criticall, specialist in event notification systems, has recently appointed Andrew Wilder as chairman. Wilder's main responsibility at Criticall will be concerned with driving the company through a period of aggressive growth. Drawing on his in-depth experience of injecting rapid growth in highly competitive environments, Wilder will focus on developing opportunities for Criticall world-wide, within the event notification and response sector.

With over 30 years' experience in the IT industry, Wilder previously worked as a Director at AT&T and with other blue chip organisations such as IBM and Cap Gemini. After leaving AT&T, Wilder was asked by the DTI and CSSA to revitalise the Software Business Network, whose role was to accelerate the growth of the UK software industry. He and his team worked with a large number of SMEs, achieving growth performance far above the industry norm.

On joining Criticall Wilder commented:

Being at the heart of the dot. com revolution during both its rise and fall, and having set up two businesses of my own, I understand the priorities and issues that affect a growing company. Joining Criticall is a huge opportunity. It is a very exciting prospect to bring a high class growing software company into a global market with a world-beating product and to win; that in itself is reward enough.

Wilder's aim is for Criticall to be recognised as a leader in its niche market, globally. Managing director of Criticall, Marcus Vaigncourt-Strallen, said:

I have known Andrew for over 27 years and am delighted that he has chosen to bring his wealth of experience to Criticall's team. I am confident that he will help us achieve our ambitions.

Wilder also acted as an adviser to the DTI on various issues including business clustering throughout the UK, growth models for small to medium-sized businesses and industrial portals.

In addition he also advised on various technology issues such as exporting and importing software. Wilder was also used to brief many inbound trade missions from the USA, India, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan and Canada.

Criticall, established in 1994, is the preferred supplier of critical event notification and response systems within the UK's largest organisations. Based on the simple premise that time-sensitive information has a direct impact on profit or safety, Criticall's notification systems can be built to fit any business need. Using Criticall's technology, companies can automatically contact people to tell them important information before, or immediately after, an event has happened, which helps them stay in control of a situation.

All of Criticall's solutions are based on a powerful critical event notification toolset, which automatically delivers messages to the right people via any communication device which suits their needs – telephone, mobile phone, pager, SMS messaging, fax and e-mail. Criticall sell their solutions to organisations to run in-house, as well as offering an ASP service for EmergencyCall.

Criticall's product suite includes:

  • AlarmPoint – receives alerts from systems, network management and security products and notifies the right people in voice or text messages. AlarmPoint's advanced notification and escalation management ensures that no important alert goes unnoticed and that someone is always located to take responsibility for a problem.

  • EmergencyCall – an automated emergency alert service designed to alert and collect responses from individuals and communities involved in any critical situation. Call outs are initiated using a customised interface, where you define the situation and pick the people and groups to be called.

  • TicketCall – allows customers to tell organisations exactly what ticket information interests them and when they would be prepared to receive an automated call. For organisations it is a highly effective, very low cost marketing initiative. Calls are always personalised and anticipated.
