Abstract

DEFINITION OF REDUNDANCY Section 1 (1) of the Redundancy Payments Act 1965 provides “Where on or after the appointed day an employee, who has been continuously employed for the requisite period, is dismissed by his employer by reason of redundancy … then, subject to the following provisions of this Part of this Act, the employer shall be liable to pay to. him a 'redundancy payment' calculated in accordance with Schedule I to this Act.”
