Abstract

Mr Wainwright, Manager, Training and Education Services, Imperial Metal Industries, points out that the chief role of a training officer in industry is to seek to improve the vocational element of industrial training and to resist attempts to make further increases in direct costs to industry. Nevertheless, liberal studies play an important part in helping young people to see the significance in life outside their work, and he is in full agreement with the trend towards general education inherent in the Dainton and Crowther reports.
