Education—prospects for 1976

Abstract

Bringing blacks and other minorities into the American mainstream, largely by increasing their access to higher education, seems to be a continuing trend as the bicentennial of the declaration of independence approaches. The US early led the world in the expansion of educational opportunity. Despite progress elsewhere the recent acceleration of educational opportunity in the US is still striking.
