Abstract

Did you know that staff in eighty per cent of the country's six hundred or so further education colleges used BBC educational television series last year? Before you say ‘So what?’ — and the significance of the statistic depends on your prior assumptions — it is worth delving a little further to uncover the really remarkable development: the equipping of colleges since 1970 with the means of recording televisual material.
