Abstract

There is a widespread acceptance of the need for a greater degree of involvement by all employees in the organisations in which they work. Participation is the practice in which employees take part in management decisions, and is based on the assumption of a community of interest between employer and employee in furthering the long‐term prospects of the organization and those who work in it. Four of the main benefits of increased employee participation are outlined in the report as follows:
