Abstract

In May the Business Education Council (BEC) will be four years old. In September colleges throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be enrolling students on a new generation of vocational education courses for business — courses leading to the new awards of BEC which are the first fruits of the Council's work. Since BEC was set up the education climate has changed to one of recognition of the country's need to put greater emphasis on appropriate vocational education and training for all our young people. The Prime Minister, the Secretary of State for Education & Science, and others have drawn attention to this need.
