Abstract

The purpose of BOTEX is to enable British firms to second employees selected by them to overseas companies for specific training attachments. Each exchange will be tailor‐made to the requirements of the sponsoring firm. BOTEX, with the assistance of similar organisations which are being set up in the receiving countries, will seek to find overseas companies able to provide the required training. At the same time, the British Office will assume responsibility for much of the administrative work — such as the applications for work permits and other formalities — and provide an authoritative source of information for those companies contemplating training secondments for their staff. In return, participating companies will be required to offer similar facilities for trainees from abroad. BOTEX is not intended to replace existing exchange arrangements, but to be of practical help to the numerous British firms who could benefit from training exchanges but have so far been discouraged by the cost and effort involved.
