THE ACTUAL PROBLEM‐SOLVING ACTIVITY: AN ACCOUNT of THE LEARNING SEQUENCE
Abstract
the job The job being analysed was that of the supervisor of a group of machines converting a variety of paper materials into a cardboard product used widely in industry. The successor, the subject of the exercise, was the senior machine operator, about to be promoted to production supervisor for the whole department. He would have to be concerned much more with liaison with other departments, motivating the operator teams, satisfying customers and juggling priorities than with the efficient working of machinery and of the operators immediately under him.
