Recruiting School Mums: School‐hour shifts for middle aged women

Abstract

Gone for a year, because of the raising of the school leaving age, are the school leavers—the traditional trainees in the clothing industry. But, even before 1973, the lure of life as a sewing machinest was proving less and less attractive to young girls and fewer and fewer were remaining in the industry.
