Abstract

The announcement by TEC that they expect that their new courses will commence, at least for Sectors A and B (Engineering and Construction), in September 1976, has produced surprisingly little reaction from those most vitally affected—the colleges. Have the full implications of TEC policy been understood by all those involved? we would start by posing three questions:‐ Are the problems of the 1960s, which led to the establishment of TEC in the 1970s, going to be valid for the 1980s and beyond? Whilst recognising the need to rationalise the organisation and administration of technician level courses, does it automatically follow that the courses themselves also need the same treatment. Why the rush?
