Abstract

Why does a modern engineering company, which bases its production philosophy on automated batch production techniques, utilising data processing methods and sophisticated numerically‐controlled machine tools, decide to adopt a major role in building a replica of a 135‐years‐old steam engine as part of its apprentice training programme?
