Abstract

AT ITS FACTORIES at Leamington Spa, the Automotive Products Group, which consists of the Lockheed Hydraulic Brake Co Ltd and associated companies, employs a total of over 6,500 people. It estimates its needs in graduate recruits at about six annually. At present all six are recruited into the two‐year training scheme direct from the universities. In future years, one of the six might reasonably have risen from the shop‐floor or the apprentice training scheme by means of the internal Lockheed University Scholarship awarded annually and, although there is no obligation upon scholars to return to the companies, another may join the Group annually after holding the Lockheed Open Scholarship at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
