Abstract

Some attention‐worthy features of the labs at the new Mid‐Herts College. In the traditional arrangement of electrical engineering laboratories the student himseif has to collect together all instruments, regulators and other items of equipment which are required to carry out a particular experiment. Before he can start work he has to arrange the various items of equipment on a simple bench and connect these together with leads which are often of miscellaneous types and not specifically designed for the work. This results in a considerable waste of time, which is of particular importance to part‐time and evening class students. It may be said that in many instances more than half the time allowance for practical laboratory work is taken up in preparing for experiments.
