Abstract

Most technical college laboratories or machine shops consider it essential to have some method of manufacturing involute gears. If special‐purpose machine tools are installed they are usually gear shaping or hobbing machines. In industry, many gear planing machines are in use, and most colleges teach this system of manufacture in HND and HNC courses.
