Abstract

THE GROWING importance of semi‐conductor and thermionic devices has led to the introduction of these topics at an increasingly early stage in electrical engineering courses. Whilst this seems advantageous from many points of view, a clear understanding of the fundamental physical principles underlying thermionic and semiconductor action is rarely established at this stage.
