With honest intent
Abstract
This month we publish part of a long discussion with the Minister of State, which covered an extremely wide field in further education terms. It was a polite and frank interview that produced many predictable answers and few surprises. However, this honest statement of Departmental intent raises more questions by far than it answers. Take three particular points; the economic background against which the DES is forced to conduct its affairs, examinations, and the control of education. Unlike specific points on which answers can be procured, these three facets have elements beyond but affecting the control of Curzon Street.
