Abstract

In the course of the Commons debate on Redeployment, the Minister of Labour, Mr Ray Gunter, said that it was in the field of adult retraining up to skilled crafts level, not in the whole area of industrial training, that the Government could best make their contribution. Over the whole area — industry as well as Government — a great deal was being done. The Industrial Training Act, 1964 was a good Act, and upon it they based great hopes of getting the skilled manpower they wanted. They all made a conscious effort to direct a major element of industrial training along that path.
