Abstract

The Hessle Road lies East of the centre of Hull, running beside the fishdock and old town. Here, though slum clearance is fairly well advanced, many small and hopeless schools still exist. Luckily due to the City's foresight more and more children can put the above question to their parents. During our trip we visited the schools listed below, which represent a reasonable cross‐section of Hull's primary and secondary facility. There were, of course, slum schools that were not on our itinerary — but their projected life is short. Throughout this section due tribute should be made both to the heads concerned and the LEA, for granting us access.
