Comment

Abstract

The Secretary of State recently announced that nobody who graduates after 1970 may teach in primary schools, and nobody graduating after 1973 may teach in secondary schools, without first undergoing training as a teacher. This means that by the year 2015 the number of untrained school teachers will be almost nil! Progress in further education will not be so rapid but we can't have everything. It would however be good to know that FE is going to make any advance at all. The fixing of a target date of the year 2100 or even 2069 for a trained FE staff would greatly improve our present expectation.
