What comes next?

Abstract

I sat at my typewriter on the last day of November, 1973 and hammered out the best piece of prognostication for which I shall ever claim credit. It was an article for Education & Training, and it set out the effects of the Barber cuts of December of that year — the last attack by a Conservative Government upon the education service. The triumph was that I spotted the cuts three weeks before they were announced.
