Abstract

Reflections — a play set in la grande salle of the Chateau de Louveciennes, home of the Comtessa Du Barry four miles north of Versailles in 1793. The curtain rises on what could be a squatters pad in any stately home of today but is, we learn, the result of looting in which the King's whore (Madame du Barry was of course the mistress of Louis Quinze, whose head had by then gone into the basket) claimed she had been relieved of her ill‐gotten store of priceless jewellery.
