Starting a new job
Abstract
Starting a new job is not a unique experience for most managers. However, when this occurs at senior level it can have a significant impact on organisation performance. I was a member of a consulting team in the early 1970s working with the Chief Executive Officer of a medium‐sized telecommunications company, part of a larger group, in the United States. The external consultant, Dr. Charles Seashore, had extensive experience in working with individuals and organisations experiencing important transitions. My job was Director of Organisation Development for the headquarters company and four operating companies of the telecommunications group.
