Abstract

FUNDAMENTALS OF CORROSION. PAINTS are popular as anti‐corrosive coatings because they are suitable for a wide range of applications and enable work to be carried out quickly. Full appreciation of the technical and economic problems set by corrosion has notably accelerated research in this field and has given more precise details of the electro‐chemical nature of the corrosion phenomenon and the fundamental importance of the state of metallic surfaces before painting, besides leading to the development of new paints.
