Abstract

There is a considerable amount of misunderstanding of the place which plastic pipe and fittings can occupy most valuably in installations where corrosion of traditional materials is a problem. The misunderstanding has stemmed to some extent from misleading information given in the press and advertising literature regarding the alleged properties of certain plastic raw materials. Certain manufacturers have claimed all the virtues for their own product and when these claims have been investigated and found to be false, dissatisfaction with the whole range of plastic materials has often followed.
