Abstract

Mention of public works in the Midlands may lead one to think of the gigantic national trunk road schemes which are at present transforming the landscape, but, as always, public works abound in the more restricted areas of the local councils. Such an undertaking is now well under way on the Northants./ Lincs. border, where the greater part of the ancient Soke of Peterborough is being converted to a unified sewage scheme.
