Abstract

RECENT industrial plastic pipe installations have shown that there are many reasons for the consideration of plastic mains for carrying cold and hot water for scouring and dyeing processes in textile dyeing and finishing works. Numbered amongst these are corrosion resistance, both internally and externally of the inert plastic material, and the good insulating properties it possesses. The material also has the advantage of weighing approximately one‐seventh of a corresponding amount of iron pipe. The extreme smoothness of the bore leads to a distinct improvement in rate of flow, loss in heat of liquid which passes through the pipes thereby being diminished.
