Abstract

POLYPROPYLENE PLANT ON STREAM. A quarter of a century ago, I.C.I. Ltd. first discovered methods for polymerising ethylene at high pressure and temperature to yield a range of crystalline thermoplastics of outstanding toughness, chemical resistance and with excellent electrical properties. Today, Alkathene polythene is produced in the U.K. on a very large scale. The I.C.I. plant capacity is now over 100,000 tons p.a.
