Abstract

The use of carbon or graphite components is now well established in a wide variety of applications where chemical corrosion or the need for lubrication precludes the use of more conventional engineering materials. Some of these applications, with particular reference to operation in chemical or corrosive conditions, and the properties and limitations of the carbon materials are discussed.
