Abstract

A feature of the protective work on the steelwork for the new Forth Road Bridge has been the extensive use of sprayed zinc coatings. Because of the very considerable areas involved it has been essential to employ ‘mass‐production’ techniques for both surface preparation and zinc spraying. The manner in which this was done by the contractors is described below.
