Industry in the Development Areas: The Experience of Firms Opening New Factories
Abstract
This PEP report finds that firms opening new factories in the Special Development Areas have varied greatly in their experience, but for every firm dissatisfied with its development area location there were four others which were pleased. While some firms have run into serious difficulties, and most made losses in the first year or two, nearly all the firms in the survey looked forward to further expansion and expected a viable future.
