Abstract

This paper provides a preliminary opportunity to report the findings of an empirical research study. The work details new management strategies, different methods of organisation, and changing manufacturing systems in a particular industry sector. Further, it postulates that the changes witnessed in strategic direction and operational emphasis are directly related to a particular macro‐environmental influence in the form of a sociological transition. It is argued that particular socio‐cultural and anthropological changes may well form a crucial determinant for this industry in promoting its observed responses.
