Abstract

In aircraft wings or other aircraft bodies wherein the leading portion is covered with metal and the trailing portion is covered with fabric, the trailing edge of the leading portion a, Fig. 3, is joggled awardly at a1 to form a flat a2 in which thread holes are formed, provided, if desired, with eyelets a2, and a clamping member b is provided having edges adapted to press against the flat a2, the damping strip also having thread holes to correspond with those in flat a2, the leading edge of the fabric c covering the trailing part being lapped around the clamping member b and attached by stitching to both b and a2. A strip of fabric d is damped between b and a2, is bent forwardly during the stitching operation and is then turned back and secured by doping. The depression at the joint between metal and fabric may be filled with dope or other composition.
