Abstract
Details of Some Components Used for Subsidiary Services in Aircraft, Missiles and Space Vehicles.Hymatic's Contribution to the British Space Suit A British space suit recently demonstrated at the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough, has been the subject of a very full development programme by The Hymatic Engineering Co. Ltd. A major aspect of this has been aimed at perfecting the various control systems which are essential to the crew member wearing the suit. In the event of a pressurized cabin failing rapidly when at high altitude (explosive decompression) the suit is designed to close instantaneously, to pressurize to a predetermined safe pressure, to provide ventilation to keep the man cool and provide breathing oxygen at the correct pressure. If the crew member is to survive, then this sequence of events must occur automatically and at a very high speed.
