Abstract

The third BAC One‐Eleven was damaged on March 18 when the under‐carriage collapsed following a heavy landing at Wisley. Although the aircraft was said to be ‘repairable’, it is understood that it is now intended to dismantle it, and make further use of certain components. Apparently the aircraft was engaged upon pilot training at the time and the incident occurred when the One‐Eleven was under the control of a pilot making his first One‐Eleven landing. The Corporation has confirmed that there was no failure or malfunction of any part of the aircraft.
