Abstract
At a large‐scale demonstration at the Board of Trade Fire Training School, Stansted recently a specialised fire‐fighting appliance from the General Fire Appliance Co. (GFA) was demonstrated for the first time to safety officials from the oil industry, civilian airfields, and elsewhere. Designed for mounting on standard airfield crash trucks and rescue vehicles, the appliance contains 190 lb. of ICI's new fire‐extinguishing agent BCF (bromo‐chlorodifluoromethane) for use as a secondary agent on a variety of special types of aircraft fires on the ground for which foam alone is inadequate.
