Abstract

NOISE is noise and it is of precious little concern to those who live in the very disagreeable environment of an airport whether it is continuous or spasmodic, annoying or acutely distressing and it is certainly no comfort to be told the aggravation is less if you are working class rather than right sensitive middle class. This simple factor is likely to be obscured by the Government survey on noise nuisance at London Heathrow. When there is such preoccupation with the social aspect, the very real science and application of noise may easily be overlooked.
