Abstract

BOAC were in need of some kind of raised platform to reach the air conditioning, insulation and other overhead services in the 747. It had to be easily erected and dismantled, able to fit across the banks of aircraft seats without causing any disturbance or damage to upholstery or trim and, of course, still be sturdy enough to support the maintenance engineers and fitters.
