Abstract

To simulate on the ground the highly variable conditions experienced during typical flights of the aircraft, BAC and RAE scientists built an environmental test rig based on a mock‐up of the forward 70ft of the supersonic transport. The wide range of temperatures experienced by the aircraft during a typical flight profile from taxiing, take‐off, subsonic climb and supersonic cruise to the sub‐sonic descent for landing‐were simulated inside the insulated test rig.
