Abstract

A sonics system, capable of receiving and processing signals from a wide range of sonobuoy types, including a new long‐range buoy, is being developed by Marconi‐Elliott Avionic Systems Ltd for improving Nim‐rod's anti‐submarine capability. Together with the 920 advanced technology computer, the on‐board processor will have access to a large bulk memory. There will be dual port access to the memory store and use of MSI and LSI integrated circuits. It is packaged in a 1 ATR short case and is believed to be the most powerful computer of its size in the world.
