Abstract

The BOAC maintenance workshops at Heathrow Airport have to make good, by a process of hard chrome electrodeposition, the bores of the main tubular telescopic undercarriage struts of the Boeing 747 aircraft. In particular, the stress relieving process that follows requires a high temperature.
