Abstract

The percentage of plastic materials used in the construction of transport, military and sport aircraft is continually increasing. Because of their specific characteristics, some plastics can replace aluminium, steep and titanium in many applications. Joining procedures previously used in the industry are frequently being replaced by plastic‐based bonding techniques. The production of machined parts is not necessary, for example, when injection‐molded or press‐formed plastic parts can be used. The production fixtures and tools are also influenced strongly by the use of plastics.
