Abstract

Compared with the A300, this new short to medium haul wide‐body has a cabin eleven frames shorter, typically seating between 210 and 234 passengers, and certifiable up to 265. Overall aircraft length is 46.7m. (153ft. 1in.) ie. some seven metres (22ft. 11in.) shorter than that of the A300. The A310 retains the A300 fuselage cross‐section, offering true wide‐body characteristics (18ft. 6in./ 5.64m.). A310 passengers will thus enjoy the same wide‐body comfort as on the A300: in eight‐abreast tourist layout, no passenger is further than one seat away from an aisle, and all have ample overhead stowage room, more than on any existing or planned aircraft in this category. The first‐class passenger also enjoys true first class comfort in wide full‐size seats, six abreast.
