Abstract

Rolls‐Royce is offering a higher‐thrust version of its fuel‐efficient 535E4 engine for the proposed McDonnell Douglas MD‐EEE trijet airliner. This new version, the 535H4, will provide 41,500lb. take‐off thrust compared with 40,100lb. for the 535E4, which enters service in Boeing 757 airliners in 1984. Rolls‐Royce 535 engines have been selected by seven of the eight operators which have already ordered 757s.
