Precision Single Set‐up Machining

Abstract

Squareness to within 4 microns on faces 360 mm apart is the sort of accuracy which Rolls‐Royce, Marconi Avionics and British Aerospace demand from Avionic Components, a Coventry‐based sub‐contract manufacturer serving primarily the defence and aircraft industries. To maintain this level of precision and extend their capability to horizontal machining, the company recently installed a universal 4‐axis CNC milling and boring machine from Maho Machine Tool Ltd., Coventry.
