Abstract

ON 16th January, 1986, a Mooney M20K 4‐seater light aircraft fitted with a Porsche PFM 3200 aero engine based on the current normally‐aspirated 3.2 litre 911 Carrera unit landed back in Donaueschingen, West Germany, after successfully completing a 100,000km round‐the‐world flight. This stiff test not only proved the six‐cylinder engine's reliability and performance but also showed up the unit's capability to operate as designed in the most varied climatic conditions.
